Twins Sweep Sox

The recent series against the White Sox has been the biggest series of the year. Chicago came in 2.5 games up on the Twins and left the Twin Cities .5 games behind the Twins. The biggest of the three games had to have been the third one. The Twins were only .5 games back and with a win would be in first place with one series left. They started off the game well by scoring the first run, the White Sox jumped all over us afer Slowey got hit by the line drive. After the inning the Sox were up 6-1 but the Twins never gave up. After the fourth the Sox never scored again but the Twins surely did. The Twins kept eating away at the lead and making the big plays out in the field and by the 8th the game was tied and the White Sox had blown a five run lead. Then they ended up going into the 10th and for Chicago they had the middle of their line up coming to bat but Nathen didn't give in he had a perfect 1-2-3 inning. So the Twins come up and get the first out right away, but then Punto reached and stole 2nd, and got to third. The Casilla came up and came through with a single that scored Punto and the crowd went crazy. After that the Twins celebrted and it seemed like none of the fans wanted to leave cause the stand were still jam packed. After while tho people started leaving and the Twins were leading the AL Central for the first time since August 23. So with one series left the Twins control their destiny for the playoffs.

Vikes Get It Done

Looks like the the vikings found their quarterback. Gus Frerotte comes in and helps the vikings pick up their first win of the season. Frerotte was able to get the passing game going on Sunday against Carolina. Many people thought we came out throwing too much but were glad we were throwing the ball and completing the passes. Frerotte was able to make the long passes and the short ones, he also made good decisions on who to throw to. The running game was not like the past, in all with Adrian and Chester the vikes only had 111 rushing yards. Where in the last two games Adrian had over 100 yards rushing by himself. Yet with only 77 yards, Adrian still averaged over 4.5 yards per carry. The recievers for the vikes had a good game. They made the catches they needed to and made some big plays when it mattered. The defense held strong like they normally do. They one gave up 42 rushing yards all game. They were also able to hold Delhomme to only 191 passing yards. One big play they made was when Winfield sacked Delhomme and forced the fumble, then picked it up and scored to tie the game at the end of the first half. Next the Vikings head to Tennesse to play the Titans on Sunday.

Twins Slipping Away

The Minnesota Twins haven't really been playing their type of ball lately. They have been able to keep up with Chicago lately but now they are losing it, they keep falling back in the standings. With the next series against Chicago the Twins have to pick up their game if they want to make it to the playoffs. The wildcard is pretty much out if the picture with Boston leading by 7.5 games with only 9 games to play. So our only hope would be to win the AL Central but after the Minnesota Chicago series the playoffs could be set up if the Twins don't win at least two of the games and get some more wins after the Chicago series and have Chicago go in to a little slump for the rest of the season. So the Twins have to start playing their type of baseball again and the wins will follow.

Vikes New Quarterback

No more Tavaris?! Vikings start a familiar quarterback, Gus Frerotte is back and hoping to turn the vikings season around and help us start winning. Last time Frerotte was here was back in the 2003 and 2004 seasons. When Frerotte was here last he started for the injured Daunte Culpepper and in the three games he started, he won all three and threw seven touchdowns and only two interceptions. When he was here he had a touchdown-inteception ratio of 18-13. Many people liked the move the vikings and coach childress made moving frerotte to starter. He has been playing longer so he has quite a bit more experience in the NFL. With the move making Gus the started, Childress said it wasn't solely Tavaris' fault tho so no one can just blame Tavaris for the 0-2 start to the season. So lets hope the move works out for us this sunday as we play the Carolina Pathers and we pick up the win and that gets something started for us.

USC vs Ohio State

Number 5?? Ohio State sure didn't play like it. At first I thought it was going to be a close game but that didn't happen. After the first it was all USC, they were able to shut Ohio State down for the rest the game, yea they gained yards but they nevered scored after the first. Pryor was helpful for the Buckeyes but USC caught on to how they were using him and held him from being able to run around and make plays happen. On the other side for USC, Mark Sanchez had a game, throwing for four touchdowns and 172 yards, even tho he had one interception it made no difference because it came at the end of the second quarter right before halftime so Ohio State couln't do anything with it. So in all, Ohio State didn't play like they normally do and USC played their type of football, and ended up getting the win, just like the experts thought.

Vikings First Game

For anyone that watched the Minnesota Vikings verse the Green Bay Packers monday night game knows how it went and how it ended. Both teams played ok at times and at other times not so good. Lots of people wanted to see Adrian come out and run all over, in the first half he pretty much did but the second half the vikes barely gave him the ball. The vikes defense had a pretty good game but they could work on the pass d. Now the player the team is suppose form around, Tavaris Jackson. He could pick up his game, some of the passes were way long or way short. Many people at my school that watched the game think Tavaris had a horrible game. Like with the vikings last offensive play many people didn't know who he was throwing to, but who ever it was either got over thrown or under thrown, that pass was picked off and that gave the packers the win. Before that play the vikes had some momentum and it seemed like they would have scored and then they would have won. So hopefully they will work on some things and get the win on sunday.
