Vikes lose to Atlanta
Today the Vikings played the Atlanta Falcons in a game that would decide another team going to the playoffs. If the Vikings won they would be in and if Atlanta won they would be in. So with the Vikings lose they have to hope Chicago will lose to the Packers so they can still make it to the playoffs. The Vikings biggest problem today was their 6 fumbles and losing 4 of them. The Vikings got lucky though because Atlanta only scored 10 points off of the 4 fumbles they recovered. Tavaris Jackson had a good game he had 22 completions and 233 passing yards with 2 touchdowns. In the last 2 games Jackson has been able to do the oppisite of how he started the year. Jackson also tied Peterson for the most rushing yards today with 76. The leading reciever today was tight end Visanthe Shaincoe with 7 catches, 136 yards and 2 touchdowns. He scored the only touchdowns today for the Vikings also. The Vikings defense became a big part in the 4th quarter but they weren't really there earlier in the game but they still held the Falcons to under 100 yards rushing. In all today the Vikings had a pretty good game but came up short and now they have to have Chicago lose or they have to beat the Giants next week.
Timberwovles
The Timberwolves are having a horrible season they have only won 4 games so far which is 2nd worse to the Thunder who have won only 3. The team is not able to put anything together and can't hold a lead for very long. They have came close to winning more but they don't have players to go out and score big points every game. Our leading scorer is Al Jefferson but he only averages 22 points per game and other leading scorers average 30 to 40 points per game. The Timberwolves got O.J. Mayo in the draft but traded him for Kevin Love and love is only scoring 8 points per game compared to Mayo who is scoring 20 points per game and leading all rookies in scoring. So that trade didn't work out for Minnesota but it worked out good for Memphis who drafted Love. In all the Timberwolves aren't doing good and have problems that need to be solved. The Timberwolves need to make some trades or have good draft picks to have a better year next year but this year isn't their year.

Vikes beat Cardinals
Today the Vikings played Arizona and many people had Arizona beating Minnesota but Minnesota wasn't going to let that happen. To get things going Bernard Berrian had an 82 yard punt return for a touchdown early in the 1st quarter. Then half way through the 1st Tavaris Jackson hooked up with Berrian for another touchdown. Again at the end of the 1st Jackson threw another touchdown but this time to Sidney Rice. Then at the end of the 2nd quarter Jackson threw another touchdown, this time to Chester Taylor. The Vikings were the only ones who scored in the 1st half so at halftime the Vikes were up 28-0 and looked to run away with the game. The 2nd half was different tho Arizona came out and scored a touchdown in the first two minutes of the half. Then Arizona blocked a Minnesota field goal and brought the game to 28-14, but that would be it for Arizona. For Minnesota, however, they had one more touchdown to score. That touchdown came at the last seconds of the 3rd quarter when Jackson threw another touchdown to Bobby Wade. Then niether team scored in the 4th quarter so the final was 35-14. This was Jacksons' first came back from being benched after the 2nd game of the year. He had a career game today also throwing for 163 yards and 4 touchdowns which was a career high. Adrian Peterson had another good rushing game with 165 rushing yards. Next the Vikes take on Atlanta next sunday who have the same record as them.

MN Duluth wins National Championship Game
The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) played today for the Division 2 National Championship. They played Northwest Missouri State who has went 4 consecutive years. UMD went 15-0 on the season and they hadn't won a playoff game until this year. However for NW Missouri State they had went to the title game 4 years in a row but they lost all 4 years. UMDs' defense had a good game. They made NW Missouri State commit 4 turnovers and NW Missouri State had 4 more fumbles but they were all covered by NW Missouri State. The defense was also able to reach NW Missouri States' quarterback 6 times for 6 sacks. The game was going back and fourth all during the first quarter but then UMD scored first in the second quarter and at half the score was 7-0. Then in the third quarter UMD scored again and went up 14-0, then early in the fourth they got another touchdown to be up 21-0. After that tho NW Missouri State started a comeback with a 44 yard interception return. Then NW Missouri State scored again to make it 14-21. They tried an onside kick but UMD was able to recover it and then they ran the clock out to win the National Championship.

Vikes get lucky win
The Vikings were able to pull off a lucky win against Detroit today. Through out the game it seemed like Detroit was going to edge out the Vikings for their first win, but in the 4th quarter the Vikings were able outscrore the Lions and get the win. Tavaris Jackson made his return in the second half after Gus Frerotte suffered a back injury. Jackson played good in the second half. He went 8 for 10 and threw for 105 yards and one touchdown. Adrian didn't get going until the 2nd half but he still ended up with 102 yards. Most of the recievers got at least 2 catches each and leading was Visanthe Shiancoe with 5 catches for 65 yards and one touchdown. For the Lions, many people steped up and help out and almost got the win. Daunte Culpepper had a good game, he threw for 220 yards and one touchdown. The Lions never really got a running game going so they were held to under 100 yards rushing. Calvin Johnson was a big part of Detroits game. He had 84 receiving yards and a touchdown catch. The Lions had many chances to put the game out of reach for the Vikings but the Vikes defense steped up and stopped them in the redzone. So the Vikings got a good win today but the next three games will be the hardest three of the year.

Oklahoma beats Missouri
Tonight Oklahoma took care of Missouri for the Big 12 championship game. At first it seemed like the game would be a close one with Missouri holding Oklahoma to 10 points in the first quarter. After that though Oklahoma took over and didn't settle until they had a NCAA record. The record was scoring 60+ points in 5 straight games. Sam Bradford had a good game going 34-49 and throwing for 383 yards and 2 touchdowns. For Missouri Chase Daniels had a good game also but had a couple mistakes. Daniels threw for 255 yards and 3 touchdowns, but he also threw 2 interceptions. The running game for Missouri couldn't get going at all, as they only ran for 42 yards. Oklahoma on the other hand and a good running game to go with Bradfords' throwing game. Oklahoma ran for 237 yards and had 6 rushing touchdowns. With the win, Oklahoma should be playing Florida for the BCS National Championship.

Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State
Oklahoma gets another big win. This time against Oklahoma State their big in state rival. The game was close all the way through but at the end Oklahoma pulled away and won by 20. Sam Bradford stated the game off slow only going 4-11 on passes but then he got going finishing the game 30-44 with 370 passing yards and 4 touchdowns. Oklahoma States quarterback showed what he had also. Zac Robison went 17-26 with 256 and 3 touchdowns but had one interception, he also helped Oklahoma State on the ground by running for 90 yards and 1 touchdown. Wide recievers on both teams helped out, most of the wide receivers and tight ends had at least one catch each and many had over 5. In all the whole game was an offensive show with a combined score of 102. With the win Oklahoma also makes it a 3 way tie for the Big 12 south. Now its up to the BCS to decide who wins and who plays Nebraska for the Big 12 Championship game.

Vikes blew it
Today the Vikes sucked it up, they were terrible. The Vikings were up 13 to 3 at halftime and looked like they were going to win easily but nope, that didn't happen. They didn't even score once in the second half and they gave up 13 points. Jeff Garcia was a big part in our loss. He didn't have any mistakes at all during the game and evaded the Vikes all game and only got sacked one time but didn't lose any yards on it. On offense the Vikings had their chances but didn't use them. The first drive for the Vikings wasn't good and the game was just like that drive. They didn't run the ball till the middle of the second drive and with the run game they scored but they didn't run enough. Adrian only had 19 carries for 85 yards compared to the last couple games he had 25-30 carries and over 150 yards. Frerotte had a decent game with completing 14 passes and throwing a touchdown but it wasn't enough. The Vikes defense and special teams have to improve over the week and have a better game than today or the Vikes will keep losing.
Gophers lost it
Saturday the Gophers played the Badgers and blew the win. They were up 21 to 7 going into halftime and lost the intencity after that. They only got a field goal in the 3rd quarter and Wisconsin got a touchdown and a field goal. They were still ahead going to the 4th quarter but that was the worst quarter for them. Wisconsin started the quarter with a touchdown then came Minnesota woes. The Gophers gave up two safties without any scoring any points between the safties. Then the Badgers got another touchdown and went up by 11. The Gophers almost came back in the end of the 4th scoring a touchdown and getting the 2 point conversion with 4:15 left in the game. Then they kicked it deep for Wisconsin and they were able to stop them and get the ball back on a punt. Then they started the drive pretty good but then it came down to 4th down and Adam Weber threw a pick and that secured the win for Wisconsin. All the Badgers did was kneel the ball and run the clock out for the win. The Gophers get the Hawkeyes next week so they better be ready to play.

Vikings Packers Game 2
First off the Vikings got super lucky in today's game with the missed field goal by Mason Crosby, which gave the Vikings the win today. Gus Frerotte didn't have a good game, he threw 3 interceptions but one good thing is he threw for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns. Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor ran all over the Packers today rushing for 227 yards. Bernard Berrian didn't get involved with any of the game. He didn't get any catches today. Chester Taylor was the leading reciever for the game with 4 catches, 84 yards and a touchdown. The Vikings defense was the biggest part of the win today getting 2 safties and getting to Aaron Rodgers numerous times. The Packers had a good chance of winning the game today by intercepting 3 passes and having a interception and punt return for touchdowns. The Packers couldn't get anything going on offense with Aaron Rodgers only throwing for 142 yards and Ryan Grant only ran for 75 yards today. So the Vikings got lucky today but have to improve for Tampa Bay next sunday.

Gophers lose 2nd straight game
Saturday the Gophers lose their second straight game. This week it was to Michigan. The Gophers didn't have a very good game. The Gophers only had 105 passing yards and only 83 rushing yards compared to Michigans 203 passing yards and 232 rushing yards, so just by that you can see the Gophers struggled today. Penalties hurt Minnesota also with the 7 they commited. Eric Decker wasn't really used at all today, with only one catch for -3 yards. For Michigan they had a good game. K.C. Lapota, Michigans kicker, had a record day. Today he set Michigans school record for most field goals made in one game, by going 5 for 5 on field goals with the longest being from 48 yards. So the Gophers had a bad game and the next two games won't be any easier with Wisconsin and Iowa.

Texas vs Texas Tech
What a game, either team could've took that game. At the beginning it looked like Texas Tech would just run away and win big, but it came down to the last second. Which ever team you wanted to win had a chance but Texas Tech got the big win. Both Colt McCoy and Graham Harrell had huge games but McCoy had a few mistakes in the beginnig that could have cost Texas the game. The first half of the game was all Texas Tech, they were up 19-0 and at half it was 22-6. Then came the second half and Texas almost had another huge comeback and almost pulled it off. Texas took the lead 33-32 with one minute and 29 seconds, but Texas Tech wasn't done they came back with a huge drive but it almost didn't work for them. Texas had a chance to intercept the ball but it went right threw the hands of Texas' safty and that gave Texas Tech the chance to win and they took it. Graham Harrell threw the winning touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree with 1 second left. Then Texas got the kick return and tried to lateral it but it didn't work and Texas Tech got the win. With everything that happened it was a great game to watch.
Rays come close
The Tampa Bay Rays came close to winning the world series but fell short losing 4 games to 1 against the Phillys. They were the biggest suprise of the year this year. No one had thought they could've went as far as they did. Everybody was suprised and didn't think it was true but it was. They came from the worst team in the MLB last year to 2nd best, but many people thought they were the best. Evan Longoria played a huge part in Tampa's way to the World Series, he also won the American League Rookie of the Year. When the World Series started a bunch of people thought the Rays would win it but after the first game many people had not changed their minds but many did later in the series. After the third game when the Rays went down 2-1 people started questioning the Rays. After the series was over many people still liked the Rays and are hoping they can be like they were this year for years to come.

Gophers win again
The Gophers got a good win in today's game against Purdue. With the win the Gophers are tied with Ohio State for 2nd in the Big 10. Ohio State has to play their game still today tho, but they play Penn State who is leading the Big 10 and is undefeated. The game is a big game for both Ohio State and for Penn State. If Ohio State loses that would put the Gophers in 2nd all by themselves, and from what the "experts" said before the season we are upsetting everyone. They had us being last and now were ranked and only have one lose which was to Ohio State. So the Gophers are having a great season and lets hope they keep it up for the last 4 weeks of the regular season.
Rays win big game
The Tampa Bay Rays got a big win in game 2 of the World Series. If they would have lost it Philly would have had a big advantage going into game 3 being up 2-0 and having home field advantage. Shields pitched a great game, he didn't allow any runs and pitched 5 2/3 innings with 4 strikeouts. Jason Bartlett played a big part in the game with 2 hits and an RBI that helped the Rays win. In the game the Phillies had their chances in game 2 but couldn't take advantage of them. Next the teams head to Philadelphia for 3 games and then head back to Tampa if necessary.

Tigers get big win against Packers
The Tigers got a big win tonight in Austin. It was a good game to watch, both teams had chances to score more than they did. Both defense's were big in tonights game and both made huge important plays tonight. Packer fans were saying they were going to win big tonight but that didn't happen. Both teams had turnover problems mostly with fumbles but the Tigers recovered the biggest one with the high snap and only a couple minutes left in a tie game. A lot if not all of the Tiger fans thought the referees missed a big play with the punt and the bounce hitting an Austin player and us picking it up, but they called it Austins ball. After that play everyone was thinking the game is done or overtime but with a high snap over the quarterbacks head a couple snaps later caused probably the biggest fumble of the game with the Tigers recovering it and a minute to play and about 40 yards for a touchdown. So we wanted the win so we passed and got big catches. The biggest by far was the game winning touchdown catch by Aaron in the corner of the endzone with only 4 seconds left. The extra point was good. Then Ausin got the ball on the kickoff with 3 seconds. They had one chance to make a big play, they sent everyone deep but our defense wasn't done the quarterback got hit as he was throwing the ball and the game ended with an interception by a linebacker. The final was 27-20 with the Tigers getting the win.
Another Lucky Win
The Vikings get another lucky win against the Lions. The Vikes were suppose to have big game against the Lions but that didn't happen. The Vikings got quite a few lucky calls at the end of the game with the fumble recovery and the pass interference call. They also got lucky with the Lions quarterback running out of the endzone for the safety. Our offense did pretty good in the game tho, with Adrian russing for 111 yards and Frerotte throwing for 296 yards and one touchdown. The leading reciever for the Vikes was Barrian with 5 catches for 131 yards and one touchdown. Kluwe had a great game, pinning the Lions behind the 20 many times, with one going out at the one yard line. Our defense had a good game also. They only gave up one touchdown and had a big role in how we played the game. So next week we get the Bears and we better come ready to play because we won't get as lucky as we have recently.

Where as Minnesota been?
Where did the Gophers come from the were ranked last by everybody in the pre-season polls but now after a big win against Illinios they are 6 and 1 with the only loss to Ohio State. Nobody thought they would be this good but they have came out and are showing what they can do. Adam Weber has had a big impact on how the Gophers have done. Today he Threw for 184 yards. Eric Decker had a good game also by catching 9 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown. Illinios' quarterback, Juice Williams had an outstanding game against our defense by throwing for 462 yards and throwing 2 touchdowns. Even tho Illinios out gained Minnesota in yards, 550 to 312. Illinios had 3 turnovers to just one by Minnesota, that gave a better chance for Minnesota to win. Next week the Gophers have an off week so lets hope they get good practices in and can come back against Purdue and pick up where they left off and win more games.
Vikes get lucky
The Minnesota Vikings got a lucky win on monday night against the Saints. They had chances to put the game out of reach but the Saints didn't allow them to. There were a lot of big plays that happened and they all had a big impact on the game. A big play the Vikes had and that got them started was the blocked field goal that was picked up by Winfield for a touchdown. Another big play Winfield has was the sack fumble recovery he had in the 2nd quarter. Just like the Vikings the Saints had their share of big plays. The biggest ones they had were the two punt returns for touchdowns that Bush had and they still punted to him, which many people didn't understand. The game came down to the last play but the Vikes got lucky and were able to hold on and get the win. With all the big plays tho, it was an exciting game to watch. Next the Vikings get the Lions, who haven't won a game yet but are looking to change that.

Twins Lose Hard Playoff Game
Most people seen the Chicago-Minnesota tie breaker game and if you wanted the Twins to win you had to be a little upset. It was a good close game though and a lot of people wathced. Both pitchers were taking the game serious. They both pitched a good game and didn't give up many hits. Blackburn made one mistake and that was the game. The mistake was to Thome and he didn't miss, he hit a deep homerun to straight away center. It was the only time either team scored, Minnesota had their chance with Cuddyer on third and Brendan Harris coming up to bat, he hit the ball but it was a little short of where he would have wanted it, because Cuddyer tried to tag but was thrown out at home on a close play. After that the Twins didn't really get another chance to score. So with the only run coming on Thome's home run the game ended with the White Sox beating the Twins 1-0 on a good, close, hard fought game. So thats all for the Twins now this season, so hopefully they will come back next season and start where they left off.

Twins Sweep Sox
The recent series against the White Sox has been the biggest series of the year. Chicago came in 2.5 games up on the Twins and left the Twin Cities .5 games behind the Twins. The biggest of the three games had to have been the third one. The Twins were only .5 games back and with a win would be in first place with one series left. They started off the game well by scoring the first run, the White Sox jumped all over us afer Slowey got hit by the line drive. After the inning the Sox were up 6-1 but the Twins never gave up. After the fourth the Sox never scored again but the Twins surely did. The Twins kept eating away at the lead and making the big plays out in the field and by the 8th the game was tied and the White Sox had blown a five run lead. Then they ended up going into the 10th and for Chicago they had the middle of their line up coming to bat but Nathen didn't give in he had a perfect 1-2-3 inning. So the Twins come up and get the first out right away, but then Punto reached and stole 2nd, and got to third. The Casilla came up and came through with a single that scored Punto and the crowd went crazy. After that the Twins celebrted and it seemed like none of the fans wanted to leave cause the stand were still jam packed. After while tho people started leaving and the Twins were leading the AL Central for the first time since August 23. So with one series left the Twins control their destiny for the playoffs.

Vikes Get It Done
Looks like the the vikings found their quarterback. Gus Frerotte comes in and helps the vikings pick up their first win of the season. Frerotte was able to get the passing game going on Sunday against Carolina. Many people thought we came out throwing too much but were glad we were throwing the ball and completing the passes. Frerotte was able to make the long passes and the short ones, he also made good decisions on who to throw to. The running game was not like the past, in all with Adrian and Chester the vikes only had 111 rushing yards. Where in the last two games Adrian had over 100 yards rushing by himself. Yet with only 77 yards, Adrian still averaged over 4.5 yards per carry. The recievers for the vikes had a good game. They made the catches they needed to and made some big plays when it mattered. The defense held strong like they normally do. They one gave up 42 rushing yards all game. They were also able to hold Delhomme to only 191 passing yards. One big play they made was when Winfield sacked Delhomme and forced the fumble, then picked it up and scored to tie the game at the end of the first half. Next the Vikings head to Tennesse to play the Titans on Sunday.

Twins Slipping Away
The Minnesota Twins haven't really been playing their type of ball lately. They have been able to keep up with Chicago lately but now they are losing it, they keep falling back in the standings. With the next series against Chicago the Twins have to pick up their game if they want to make it to the playoffs. The wildcard is pretty much out if the picture with Boston leading by 7.5 games with only 9 games to play. So our only hope would be to win the AL Central but after the Minnesota Chicago series the playoffs could be set up if the Twins don't win at least two of the games and get some more wins after the Chicago series and have Chicago go in to a little slump for the rest of the season. So the Twins have to start playing their type of baseball again and the wins will follow.

Vikes New Quarterback
No more Tavaris?! Vikings start a familiar quarterback, Gus Frerotte is back and hoping to turn the vikings season around and help us start winning. Last time Frerotte was here was back in the 2003 and 2004 seasons. When Frerotte was here last he started for the injured Daunte Culpepper and in the three games he started, he won all three and threw seven touchdowns and only two interceptions. When he was here he had a touchdown-inteception ratio of 18-13. Many people liked the move the vikings and coach childress made moving frerotte to starter. He has been playing longer so he has quite a bit more experience in the NFL. With the move making Gus the started, Childress said it wasn't solely Tavaris' fault tho so no one can just blame Tavaris for the 0-2 start to the season. So lets hope the move works out for us this sunday as we play the Carolina Pathers and we pick up the win and that gets something started for us.

USC vs Ohio State
Number 5?? Ohio State sure didn't play like it. At first I thought it was going to be a close game but that didn't happen. After the first it was all USC, they were able to shut Ohio State down for the rest the game, yea they gained yards but they nevered scored after the first. Pryor was helpful for the Buckeyes but USC caught on to how they were using him and held him from being able to run around and make plays happen. On the other side for USC, Mark Sanchez had a game, throwing for four touchdowns and 172 yards, even tho he had one interception it made no difference because it came at the end of the second quarter right before halftime so Ohio State couln't do anything with it. So in all, Ohio State didn't play like they normally do and USC played their type of football, and ended up getting the win, just like the experts thought.

Vikings First Game
For anyone that watched the Minnesota Vikings verse the Green Bay Packers monday night game knows how it went and how it ended. Both teams played ok at times and at other times not so good. Lots of people wanted to see Adrian come out and run all over, in the first half he pretty much did but the second half the vikes barely gave him the ball. The vikes defense had a pretty good game but they could work on the pass d. Now the player the team is suppose form around, Tavaris Jackson. He could pick up his game, some of the passes were way long or way short. Many people at my school that watched the game think Tavaris had a horrible game. Like with the vikings last offensive play many people didn't know who he was throwing to, but who ever it was either got over thrown or under thrown, that pass was picked off and that gave the packers the win. Before that play the vikes had some momentum and it seemed like they would have scored and then they would have won. So hopefully they will work on some things and get the win on sunday.
